Science After Dark
Every First Friday 5:30–9 pm
Discover the mysteries of the universe during our monthly adventures! Learn how to use and create your own star charts or journey through the night sky in The Dome with a special all-live Cosmic Expedition. Gaze through telescopes and see firsthand some of the wonders of the nighttime sky, weather permitting. This incredible event is brought to you in partnership with the Institute for Advance Learning and Research. Members and students with college ID enjoy free admission to Science After Dark; general admission is $5.

Sensory Friendly Nights at the Danville Science Center
October 18, November 15 and December 13; 5–7:30 pm

Take part in our fantastic fall lineup of sensory friendly nights of science discovery and fun. Explore our galleries with sensory sensitivity accommodations to lights and sounds while enjoying an evening of sensory friendly activities brought to you by The Hughes Center. Science Center to Host Dr. Christine Mann Darden
Saturday, October 20; 4–5 pm
Lecture is free and open to the public; seating is limited to first 100 on a first come, First served basis.

Join us as we welcome Dr. Christine Mann Darden who will speak about her career at NASA and what led her down the path to becoming one of the featured researchers in the book Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race. Darden devoted much of her 40-year career in aerodynamics at NASA to researching supersonic flight and sonic booms. She had an M.S. in mathematics before starting to work at Langley Research Center in 1967. She later earned a PhD in engineering at George Washington University.

Polar Express Pajama Party
December 1 & 8 • 10 am and 2 pm

All Aboard! Mark your calendars for our third annual viewing of the Polar Express! As a timeless classic, the Polar Express is fun for the young and the young at heart. To make sure you don’t forget your experience we will have a selfie station for families to grab a few fun photos as keepsakes from the day. Children are encouraged to dress in their favorite pajamas.
Members: $12 per ticket
Non-Members: $15 per ticket (includes museum admission)
